Sri Lanka, Aug. 27 -- A teacher from a leading school in Anuradhapura has been remanded until the 8th of next month for allegedly abusing a 12-year-old male student in the school's mathematics lab.
The suspect was arrested by the Child and Women Bureau of the Anuradhapura Headquarters Police following a complaint from the child's parents.
The suspect, a married teacher from Ethungama, Thirappane, was brought before Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate Nalaka Sanjeeva Jayasooriya.
His lawyer, Ranjith Rajakaruna, strongly denied the charges and requested bail for his client.
However, after considering the submissions, the court ordered the suspect to be remanded until the next court hearing.
