Srilanka, Nov. 19 -- Two cases filed by the Bribery Commission against former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena concerning corruption charges were taken up for trial today (19) before the Colombo High Court.

The cases were heard before Colombo High Court Judge Mohamed Mihail. The Bribery Commission filed these two lawsuits during Former President Maithreepala Sirisena's administration.

The former Deputy Minister is accused of causing a financial loss to the government through irregular procedures involving the rental of vehicles during his tenure as Chairman of the National Lotteries Board.

During the hearing of one of the cases, defence evidence was called.
