Sri Lanka, Aug. 28 -- The main opposition party, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, has voiced strong disapproval over the government's choice of Seevali Arukgoda as the new Director General of Sri Lanka Customs.
The party alleges that Arukgoda was implicated in a recent container-related scam.
Speaking at a media briefing, SJB MP Mujibur Rahman claimed that a special committee investigating a controversial "red label" container release case had found Arukgoda culpable.
The MP questioned how an individual found guilty in an official probe could be appointed to such a senior post and criticised the government for not taking disciplinary action.
Rahman urged the government to reconsider the appointment and act on the investigation's findings....
