Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- Russia has stated there is no reason to be concerned about Sri Lanka's human rights situation, in a direct response to a report by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

The Russian representative praised Sri Lanka's government for its willingness to cooperate with international human rights bodies, citing the recent visit of the UN High Commissioner as a prime example.

The representative acknowledged Sri Lanka's ongoing efforts to align its national laws with international obligations, improve public administration, and advance national reconciliation.
