Sri Lanka, Sept. 1 -- An office assistant from the Wayamba Provincial Road Development Authority has been remanded in custody until the 12th of this month for allegedly soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 120,000.
The order was issued today (1) by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.
The suspect was identified as D.M. Indrapadma Dissanayake, an office assistant attached to the Executive Engineer's Office of the Wayamba Provincial Road Development Authority.
The Bribery Commission informed the court that the bribe was requested from a resident of the Polgahawela area to prevent the demolition and further investigation of an illegally constructed building belonging to the complainant.
