Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team, or SLCERT, is warning the public to be cautious of job scams that offer significant salaries for very little work.
According to the agency, fraudsters are using online advertisements and other promotions to target vulnerable individuals, often requesting upfront payments under the guise of registration fees or deposits.
SLCERT officials warn that victims who fall for these scams risk not only financial loss and the theft of personal data but, in some cases, even becoming victims of human trafficking.
