Sri Lanka, Aug. 3 -- A resolution to remove the interdicted Inspector General of Police (IGP), Deshabandu Tennakoon, from his post has been included in the parliament's order paper.

The proposal is scheduled to be debated in Parliament on Tuesday (5) with a vote expected to take place that evening.

This matter was also discussed at a recent meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Business.

The allegations against Deshabandu Tennakoon were revealed when the Speaker tabled the report of the committee that investigated him.

The report found him guilty of 23 charges and was based on 13 days of testimony.

The committee unanimously recommended that Deshabandu Tennakoon be removed from the post of Inspector General of Police.
