Sri Lanka, April 29 -- Police in Kesbewa discovered remains, believed to be those of a woman who died several months ago.
The discovery was made while officers were investigating a complaint received through the 119 police emergency hotline, according to our correspondent.
The remains were found inside a house located in the Makandana area of Kesbewa.
Police suspect the remains belong to a 65-year-old woman who resided in the house. It has been reported that the woman and her husband lived separately. The remains were found in the kitchen of the residence.
Due to the position of the body - lying supine with clothing pulled towards the upper body - police have concluded that the woman may have been sexually assaulted.
