Srilanka, Dec. 7 -- A bus carrying a group of relief workers from Kalutara was involved in a crash in the Nuwara Eliya area yesterday (6) evening while returning home, Nanu Oya Police report.
The group had travelled to Nuwara Eliya four days prior from Kalutara to clean up public places and the town centre that had been devastated by the adverse weather.
The incident occurred when the bus was being driven from Nuwara Eliya back towards Kalutara via the Radella shortcut. Upon reaching a steep slope in the Somerset Estate area, the bus's brakes reportedly failed.
The police stated that the bus went out of the driver's control and crashed into an adjacent earth bank along the road.
