Sri Lanka, June 13 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued a red warning for the sea areas off the coast, from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar, and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

This warning comes due to the active Southwest Monsoon conditions, which are causing wind speeds in these offshore areas to increase to 60-70 kmph at times.

The affected sea areas are expected to be very rough periodically.

Naval and fishing communities are strongly advised not to venture into these sea areas until further notice.
