Sri Lanka, Aug. 1 -- The reason behind Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National Organizer and Hambantota District Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa's recent trip to the Maldives has been revealed as he attended a wedding despite a court warrant for his arrest.

The warrant was issued by the Hambantota Magistrate's Court for his failure to appear in court for a pending case related to a 2017 protest against the transfer of the Hambantota Port.

MP Rajapaksa's trip to the Maldives was for the wedding of the daughter of former Maldives Vice President Abdullah Jihad.

Notably, MP Rajapaksa was on the same plane as President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and the two were seated in the same business class.
