Sri Lanka, May 4 -- Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces after 1.00 p.m. today (4), according to the Department of Meteorology.

Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces and in Ampara district.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places elsewhere over the island during the afternoon or night.

The Met Department urges the general public to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
