Sri Lanka, Dec. 5 -- The Cyclone Burevi has been remaining stationary for 24 hours about 145 km to the west of Mannar, says the Department of Meteorology.

Its deputy director Merrill Mendis says the influence of this depression to the island is expected to reduce gradually.

Certain areas are likely to experience rainfall of up to 100 mm.

He advises the fishing and naval communities to refrain further from going out to sea.
