Sri Lanka, June 26 -- Railway technicians and technical assistants have commenced a 24-hour token strike from 7:00 AM today (26) until 7:00 AM tomorrow (27).

The strike is reportedly over an overtime dispute.

Nalin Dassanayake, President of the Railway Technical Management Officers' Association, stated that as a result of the strike, railway repair and maintenance work at the Ratmalana, Dematagoda, and Maradana railway yards will not take place.
