Sri Lanka, May 17 -- The Railway Station Masters' Association has announced that their strike action, which began at midnight yesterday, will end at midnight today (17), according to the association's president, Sumedha Somaratne.
However, he warned that if authorities fail to provide solutions to their ongoing issues, they will reconvene next week to decide on launching a continuous strike. The strike resulted in the cancellation of approximately 250 to 270 train journeys today. The association also claimed that the Railway Department incurred losses of nearly 30 million rupees due to the suspension of ticket sales.
