Sri Lanka, May 17 -- The public can express their views and contribute towards the drafting of the new Anti-Terrorism Bill.

This was announced by the Ministry of Justice and National Integration as the process of obtaining public views commenced yesterday.

This move follows the Cabinet's decision to repeal the existing Prevention of Terrorism Act No. 48 of 1979.

An expert committee has been appointed by the Minister of Justice and National Integration to replace the existing law with new anti-terrorism legislation that safeguards human rights, in line with international standards.

The Ministry is inviting the public to send in their comments, recommendations, and suggestions over the next two weeks, until the 30th of May.
