Sri Lanka, Sept. 3 -- Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) carried out a night operation from 4:30 PM to 11:00 PM yesterday (02) to inspect food establishments in the Payagala and Beruwala Medical Officer of Health (MOH) areas.

The inspections targeted locations that prepare food at night, including hotels and retail shops.

During the raids, PHIs checked the cleanliness of the establishments and their employees.

They identified several violations, such as selling packaged food that did not comply with labelling regulations, using eggs contaminated with faeces for food preparation, and storing cooked food with raw meat and fish in the same refrigerator.

As a result of the operation, legal action has been initiated against nine shop owners....
