Sri Lanka, Feb. 15 -- A Public Health Inspector has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for attempting to solicit a Rs. 200,000 bribe from a hotel in Dambulla.

According to a senior official, the suspect was apprehended yesterday while attempting to collect the bribe from a senior hotel official near his residence.

The bribe was allegedly demanded to exempt hotel employees from their mandatory annual medical examination. The suspect initially visited the hotel but left after sensing suspicion. However, he later arranged to collect the money, leading to his arrest.
