Sri Lanka, Jan. 23 -- The Presidential Commission of Inquiry, appointed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to investigate alleged systemic corruption and irregularities within the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC), has officially commenced its proceedings. The commission is mandated to examine widespread allegations of misconduct spanning a fifteen-year period from 2010 to 2025.
The inquiry will focus on several key areas of concern, including fraud, criminal breach of trust, and the misappropriation of state property.
It will also investigate the misuse of public resources and privileges, unlawful recruitments and appointments, and significant violations of procurement guidelines.
