Sri Lanka, March 16 -- Specialist psychiatrist of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital emphasized the need for teaching children conflict management skills to curb rising violence.

His remarks follow the recent arrest of four students linked to an assault on two Advanced Level students in a supermarket parking lot near a tutoring class in Nugegoda.

One of the victims, a Thalawathugoda student, remains hospitalized at Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital.

The arrested students, aged between 14 and 17, are scheduled to appear before the Gangodawila Magistrates' Court today.

Dr. Ruben highlighted that the increase in violence among children reflects deeper ideological issues.
