Sri Lanka, Feb. 6 -- Protesters in Bangladesh have vandalized and set fire to the former family home of deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, as well as the homes of other members of her party. The unrest was sparked by news that Hasina would address the country via social media from India, where she has been in exile since being ousted last year.

Hasina, 77, who led Bangladesh for two decades, was seen as an autocrat with a history of suppressing dissent. On Wednesday, an excavator demolished the house of Hasina's late father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh's founding president, which had been repurposed into a museum. Rahman is viewed as an independence hero, but his legacy has been tainted by anger towards his daughter.
