Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- A protective earth embankment was constructed today (10) at the 15th-milepost area on the Ella-Wellawaya main road, where a fatal bus crash occurred last week.
The barrier was built to prevent future incidents.
The bus crash took place on the night of September 4, when a bus carrying employees of the Tangalle Municipal Council and their families went over a cliff while returning from a pleasure trip to Nuwara Eliya.
According to Uva Province Governor Kapila Jayasekara, several road crashes have occurred at this location in the past, resulting in significant loss of life.
The new protective barrier was built with the cooperation of the Road Development Authority to reduce the risk of further tragedies.
