Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- More than ten high-risk spots have been identified along the Ella-Wellawaya road, particularly on the stretch between Ella and Ravana Falls, according to the Badulla District Road Development Authority.
Officials said a special study is already under way, and soil embankments are being constructed at some locations to stabilise the roadside. Warning signs have been installed, but police say many motorists fail to pay proper attention.
The assessment follows last week's fatal crash in which a passenger bus plunged nearly 1,000 feet off the road near the 24th milepost, killing 15 people, including the Tangalle Urban Commissioner, other council staff, and two children.
