Sri Lanka, July 19 -- The report from the investigative committee appointed to probe allegations of misuse of power against Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon is expected to be handed over to the Speaker next week.

This follows the committee's recent completion of its evidence-gathering phase.

The committee is chaired by Supreme Court Justice Preethi Padman Surasena.

Its other members are retired Justice Neil Iddawela, who serves as the Chairman of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, and E.W.M. Lalith Ekanayake, Chairman of the National Police Commission.
