Sri Lanka, June 9 -- The Cabinet has decided to suspend the Commissioner General of Prisons, Thushara Upuldeniya following an investigation into the misuse of Presidential Amnesty to release certain prisoners illegally.

The Criminal Investigation Department recorded statements from Upuldeniya over the past two days regarding his alleged involvement.

Meanwhile, the Anuradhapura Prison Superintendent was arrested yesterday (8) in connection with the same case and is expected to be presented in court.
