Sri Lanka, Dec. 16 -- A suspect who was brought from Trincomalee Prison to be produced before the Kantale Magistrate's Court today (16) had to be hospitalised after he cut his neck, chest, and hands with a sharp object inside a toilet on the court premises, according to Kantale Police Headquarters.

This suspect was initially jailed for allegedly robbing a woman's gold jewelry and money on the train traveling from Trincomalee to Colombo on April 12, 2025, and was later released on court bail.

The suspect subsequently failed to appear in court, leading to a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested by Kankesanthurai Police on the warrant and sent to Trincomalee Prison on a court order. Prison officials were bringing him back to the Kantale ...
