Sri Lanka, June 10 -- The Principals' Service Union is protesting a new circular issued by the Ministry of Education that assigns personal responsibility to principals if dengue mosquito breeding sites are found within school premises.
This comes as the National Dengue Control Unit's Community Physician, Dr. Prashila Samaraweera, stated at a press conference in Colombo yesterday, the 9th of June, that 25,505 dengue cases have been reported across the country so far this year. Health officials have previously noted that many schoolchildren have also contracted dengue and chikungunya.
