Sri Lanka, May 1 -- Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has issued a May Day message calling for national unity and determination as Sri Lanka commemorates the 139th International Workers' Day.
In her address, she highlighted the significance of celebrating under a "people's government," marking a departure from what she described as a "painful chapter" of hardship and struggle for the working class.
"Let us commemorate the 139th International Workers' Day in a year marked by progress and under a government that represents the will of the people, putting an end to a painful chapter in history where the working class endured hardship, sacrifice, and struggle marked by blood and sweat," she stated.
