Sri Lanka, Aug. 6 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has signed the resolution passed in Parliament to remove Deshabandu Tennakoon from the post of Inspector General of Police.
The resolution was forwarded to the President after it was passed by a majority of 177 votes in favour and none against.
This marks the first time in the country's history that an IGP has been removed through a parliamentary process.
Only one Member of Parliament, Ramanathan Archchuna, abstained from the vote.
