Sri Lanka, May 4 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake landed in Viet Nam early today (4) for a state visit, until May 6.

The visit, at the invitation of Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, marks 55 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

During his stay, President Disanayake will hold official discussions with the Vietnamese President and Prime Minister, and meet with senior dignitaries, including the General Secretary of the Communist Party.

He will also be the Chief Guest and deliver the keynote address at the United Nations Day of Vesak ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on May 6.

Several Memoranda of Understanding and Agreements are expected to be concluded during the visit, with a focus on strengthening business ties.
