Sri Lanka, July 24 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today held a special discussion with relevant ministers and officials at the Presidential Secretariat to address elephant conservation and the safety of rural communities affected by the human-elephant conflict.
According to the President's Media Division, the President focused on the escalating harm to elephants and its impact on the daily lives of rural communities. Officials briefed him on the current situation and the long-standing challenges faced by institutions in finding solutions.
President Dissanayake stressed that harm to elephants is unacceptable under any circumstances, and short, medium, and long-term solutions must be implemented.
