Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- The ongoing postal strike is continuing, with postal unions stating that all main services have come to a standstill.
The strike, which began yesterday (17) at 4 PM, was launched over 19 demands, including issues related to overtime payments and a new directive requiring all officers in administrative and accounting offices to record their attendance using fingerprint scanners.
Despite the strike, the Postmaster General, Ruwan Sathkumara, stated that the postmasters of the country's 3,354 sub-post offices are not participating in the action.
He said these sub-post offices will continue to operate as usual, providing services to the public.
