Sri Lanka, July 16 -- The post-mortem examination of tusker Bhathiya, who died yesterday (15), was conducted last night under the leadership of Kavindra Wijesundara from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Peradeniya.

The report is expected to be submitted to the court.

According to a court decision, Bhathiya's head will be separated and buried in a secure location.

After several days, his tusks will be removed and handed over to the Director-General of Wildlife Conservation.

Bhathiya's final rites were performed with the support of the Mahawa Pradeshiya Sabha and local residents.
