Sri Lanka, May 2 -- 633 metric tons of garbage accumulated during the public exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy remains at the Gohagoda garbage disposal site, waiting to be disposed of.

The Kandy Municipal Council reports that transporting this large volume of waste to Colombo for disposal is proving to be a challenging and costly endeavour.

During the exposition period, efforts were made to collect segregated waste using 450 bins throughout the city.

However, these efforts were reportedly unsuccessful, resulting in the accumulation of 633 metric tons of mixed waste.
