Sri Lanka, May 11 -- The newly elected Pope Leo XIV visited the tomb of His Holiness Pope Francis in the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore today (11).
According to foreign media, he stopped to pray at the tomb of Pope Francis and before the statue of the Virgin Mary, Salus Populi Romani, on his return to the Vatican, followed by his first official visit as the new Pope.
Pope Leo XIV marked his first official visit as the new Pope previously, when he visited the shrine of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Genzano, within 48 hours of his election.
