Sri Lanka, Dec. 18 -- The public is advised to refrain from misusing the 119 police emergency hotline, according to a recent police notification.

Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler, stated that authorities observed several instances where the number was used inappropriately.

He further noted that legal action was initiated against several individuals involved in such activities to ensure the efficiency of the emergency service.
