Sri Lanka, June 10 -- A woman who was swept away by a strong current while bathing at the Malwatu Oya Old Bridge bathing spot was rescued yesterday (9).

The 54 year old resident of Hanwella was rescued by a Police Sergeant and 2 Police Constables attached to the Police Lifesaving Unit on duty at the location.

After receiving initial first aid, the woman was handed over to her relatives.
