Sri Lanka, May 1 -- A student of Sabaragamuwa University has filed a police complaint, alleging that the recent death of a fellow undergraduate was the result of ragging.
The 23-year-old student took his own life yesterday (April 30), sparking widespread concern and calls for accountability.
Police say investigations are currently underway to identify those involved in the alleged ragging incident.
They added that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible.
Earlier today, the Ministry of Education too launched a preliminary investigation into the incident, adding that all necessary measures will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
