Sri Lanka, April 2 -- A video circulating on social media shows a group of individuals obstructing and assaulting two police officers on duty in Nilaveli. Police Media Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga confirmed that the incident occurred on March 31 while officers were enforcing the law regarding a traffic violation.

According to the police, around 10 individuals attacked the officers, committing an offense punishable by serious imprisonment under the Penal Code. One key suspect has already been arrested, produced in court, and remanded, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.

The police have vowed to take strict legal action against those interfering with law enforcement duties.
