Sri Lanka, Feb. 15 -- In a significant development at the Supreme Court today (15), a sergeant and two constables from the Narahenpita Police publicly apologized to an 87-year-old senior citizen. The apology came as part of a settlement reached between the petitioner, Godwin Perera, and the implicated police officers, in a fundamental rights petition filed by Perera in 2017.

The incident in question stemmed from an accident involving a person cleaning the road, after which Godwin Perera has hospitalised the worker and notified the police. Subsequently, the three police officers arrested Godwin Perera.
