Sri Lanka, April 24 -- Police have been told to be on the lookout for suspicious individuals in helmets.

In a release today (24), the police media division announced that groups of helmeted individuals had been responsible for many of the shootings and killings which had been increasingly carried out around the island over the recent past.

Noting that individuals must only be wearing helmets for their protection while travelling on motorbikes, police have been instructed to monitor any suspicious individuals who they see are wearing helmets when not travelling on bikes.

Police have also been instructed to search their belongings if necessary.
