Sri Lanka, April 22 -- The police have issued a clarification regarding a bogus letter circulating on social media platforms. The Police Media Division stated that the letter, purportedly from the "Computer Crimes Headquarters" and bearing the name and a forged signature of Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya, is being shared under the heading " CONVICTION ".

However, it has been observed that the content of this letter lacks any legal basis and is composed of incoherent and mismatched wording.

Furthermore, the "Cyber Crime" institution mentioned as the sender does not exist in Sri Lanka, and the positions or information contained within the letter have not been issued by the police.
