Sri Lanka, Sept. 4 -- Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has emphasised the vital role of government spending in safeguarding the rights and well-being of children.

According to the Prime Minister, "Government budgets are among the most powerful instruments for realising the rights and well-being of children as enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child."

Speaking at a regional knowledge exchange event in Colombo, Dr. Amarasuriya highlighted that it is the government's duty to ensure that public funds advance the rights of every child and secure their future.
