Sri Lanka, May 25 -- Two photo studio owners have been arrested for allegedly providing false information to the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration to fraudulently obtain passports.

The individuals were taken into custody on May 24 by the Human Trafficking, Smuggling Investigation and Maritime Crime Investigation Division, after being summoned and questioned at the Criminal Investigation Department.

The arrested suspects, aged 32 and 51, are residents of Maligawatte and Ehaliyagoda, respectively.

Investigations revealed that they had obtained a photograph of Mandinu Padmasiri Perera, alias Kehelbaddara Padme, an alleged organised criminal currently residing abroad, via WhatsApp.
