Sri Lanka, Jan. 20 -- The Cabinet of Ministers sanctioned a proposal to amend the pension entitlement clause in the appointment letters of public servants recruited after January 1, 2016.

The Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government introduced this measure to provide clarity on retirement benefits for these employees.

Consequently, official circulars will be issued to implement the revised terms across the public sector.

A 2016 budget proposal originally suggested a contributory pension scheme, leading to a conditional clause in appointment letters stating that recruits would be subject to future policy decisions.
