Sri Lanka, Oct. 15 -- Wellawaya Police report that a pedestrian was killed instantly after being run over by a private bus.

The incident occurred yesterday (14) afternoon on the Wellawaya-Tanamalwila road, between the 318 km and 319 km posts.

The deceased has been identified as M.K.S. Ariyapala (62), a labourer and resident of Sellaba 01, Bathalaaramagama, Nugayaya, Wellawaya.

Police stated that the man died on the spot after being crushed under the rear wheel of the bus.

The bus driver has been arrested, and Wellawaya Police are conducting further investigations.
