SriLanka, Nov. 17 -- A lorry travelling from Batticaloa towards Kalmunai struck a person yesterday (16) on the Kalmunai-Batticaloa road in the Arayampathy area.

Reports indicate the injured person died upon admission to the Batticaloa Hospital for treatment.

The identity of the deceased person remains unconfirmed, but he was revealed to be a mendicant residing in the area.

The body is currently deposited in the Batticaloa Hospital mortuary.

The lorry driver was taken into custody.

Reports mention that he was produced before the Batticaloa Magistrate's Court yesterday (16) and remanded until November 25.
