Sri Lanka, May 29 -- A tragic accident in the Biyagama area of the Kelaniya Police Division has resulted in the death of a passenger.

The incident occurred when a private bus, experiencing brake failure, was being reversed to the side of the road.

A passenger attempted to exit the bus and became trapped between the vehicle and a nearby wall, sustaining fatal injuries.

The 34-year-old victim, a resident of Ampitigoda, was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

His body has been placed in the mortuary at the Colombo National Hospital.

The driver of the bus involved in the accident has been arrested.

Kelaniya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
