Sri Lanka, Jan. 6 -- Approval for the establishment of a Parliamentary Select Committee to investigate and recommend the appropriate electoral system for Provincial Council elections is scheduled for submission to Parliament today (06).

This decision was reached during yesterday's Party Leaders' meeting. Consequently, the first parliamentary session of the new year convenes today, presided over by Speaker Dr Jagath Wickramaratne.

Debates are scheduled regarding regulations under the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act as well as the Fishermen's Pension and Social Security Benefit Schemes Act.

A debate on the proclamation published in the Extraordinary Gazette under the Public Security Ordinance is set for 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. However...
