These incidents, officials report, were triggered by anti-US sentiment, the United States' unwavering support for its ally Israel, and opposition to Israel's ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Since the commencement of the Gaza war, the fast-food chain has become a focal point of protests and boycott calls initiated by Islamist parties, who draw a connection between the brand and US backing of Israel.
